Wintercup 2012

As we all may know, Friday 17th of February 2012 was a very good day for Igor. During 10 minutes “Time Attack”, Walilko was in the TOP 10, beating the most of the world known drivers. The same day, two qualify rounds took place, where “Mr. I” began his race behind Max Verstappen and achieving 5th and 7th place.
Saturday looked to be as promising as Friday, when during a morning warm-up session Walilko confirmed his high form. In the 3rd qualify round he took once again a good 7th place, but unfortunately in round 4th and 5th Igor was pushed out of the track and took 19th and 15th position. Finally 14 year old driver from Zielona Góra qualified to Sunday’s pre-finals with 22nd pole position. Unfortunately it turned out that the pressure from his opponents and Igor’s brake in career started to come out. After 3 crashes and couple of collisions Igor was 27th. The final race, looked very good at the beginning, because “Igi” overcome 10 drivers what was very promising. Unfortunately, luck did not last too long because Walilko hit in the back had to save himself on the roadside, thereby losing the positions acquired. Then the engine refused to work and Igor finished his race on 32th place.

Igor Walilko:
I’m very satisfied by the fact, that I have very good gear and also that the months of hard work on trainings did not fail me. Unfortunately I still have to work over the tactics during the race itself. I’m looking forward to it.

Wolfagang Berr:
I think, that Igor not only surprised us with his speed at the very beginning of the season but also our competitors. There are not to many drivers that after a over a year off, get into the more advanced and faster kart and are in the strict top of World.

Rafał Waliłko:
Our goal was a final in Lonato and we achieved it, what really makes me happy. We are dealing with the world's best athletes of KF2 class, and anyone who knows about motorsport knows that Igor’s result, taking into account all the circumstances is above average. As for the Wintercup we test so many parts that some still have the right to fail. We still have a few races so called developing, and I think the first major results of this season will begin to appear in the middle of the season.
