DJKM Wackersdorf – 3rd Round of German Karting Championships

(…) Igor Walilko is with no doubt this year leader of German Championships.
This young man from Poland, despite his bad luck he made the show. Because only a talented driver can get thru from 30th position to 6th during the final race! Congratulations!(…)

Said German commentary after the final race in KF3 category in 3rd edition of German Karting Championships, which took place on one of the best track in the World in Wackersdorf near Regensburg. Walilko took 9th place in Saturdays time attack, which gave him 17th place in general classification. To the first heat Igor started from 12th position and after a amazing fight on track he placed at 7th. In 2nd heat WallraV Racing Club Ward was brutally pushed out of the track, finishing the race on 19th position with completely crashed kart and with serious knee injury. Despite that on Sunday morning, Walilko during a warm-up session had time only for 0,1s worse than fastest driver which was very optimistic before the pre-finals.

Igor started the race from 14th position and just after the start he was pushed out of the trak in the same way as day before and finishing 30th this time.   Of course any of the German referee didn’t see nothing unusual in this case neither on Saturday and Sunday. With a little bit of rain, with damaged kart and knee injury, Walilko went for the finals from 30th place. He did the best time of the race (51.301), get thru to the great 7th place. After the race Igor received a lot warm comments and congratulations from the fans and professional observers from all of the Europe. Also commentary didn’t spend his words to talk about that great driving. Unfortunately, after 1,5h from the end of the race our west friends finally found the incident for what Walilko got 10 seconds penalty. Traditionally, no one had showed Igor the warning during the race, and no one had asked anybody from the Team or driver to come up to event office and discuss circumstances of the case. That one sided verdict, moved Igor finally at the 13th place.. Also the Best Lap Time displayed on the screen  leaves a lot of questions. Walilko is 9th In general classification, and loses the real chance for the win.

Igor’s comment to  „DJKM” Wackersdorf 2010:

(...)I know that I’m one the test drivers In Germany and nobody will change it. Now I have to focus before upcoming event which is Euro Championship Finals.(…)

Rafała Waliłko’s comment to  „DJKM” Wackersdorf 2010:

(…) The incident with a yellow flag in Oschersleben or penalty in Wackersdorf only confirms that the German Karting has a double bottom. After the competition In Wackersdorf I Just could not imagine future starts In Germany, if the tendency to tease foreign drivers will keep up. We will see what will future show (…)

Wolfganga Berr’a comment to  „DJKM” Wackersdorf 2010:

(…) Despite of Igor’s crashes and injury, he’s really a fast driver, he is a real fighter . I’m concerned that when somebody represents such skills like Igor, success will come sooner or later. About Igor’s penalty I got to know from an owner of a karting portal who wasn’t hiding his disappointment of that decision. What I can say, beside that, if it’s going to be litke that later, probably in Germany only Germans will race each other. That’s a pity, because it was the most powerful league after the Italian.(…)
