Igor Walilko in top World Series Karting “WSK” drivers.

The first round of World Series Karting “WSK” have been running 7th March 2010 on LaConca track. Although the track is situated in south Italy, the weather was not so good for the drivers.

On Friday time attack races which have been running in a heavy rain Walilko did 24th place on 90 drivers and 12th place in the group in KF3 class. Not so good position was caused by wrong tire pressure in Igor's gokart.

As it turned later the management of the event decided to set the starting girds not according to the each driver lap times but positions gained in the groups which caused strange set up on the start line where often slower drivers have been positioned way higher than some faster ones. This kind of system is used often where there is a big difference in weather conditions between each classes, in turn of KF3 class the conditions was same for all groups.

Walilko have been qualified to group B and he supposed to start from 15 or 16 position.

It stopped raining on Saturday and there was a three heats that day, where Igor have been regularly pushing out from the track. Only last race he managed to avoid the crash and he finished that heat on, great 4th position. The last, fourth heat was on Sunday. As usual just after the start there was a small mess on the track and our young driver lost some places landing on 22th position. But just after 8 laps Igor gained to reach 12th position. Finally Walilko earned 62 penalty points and 35th position before finals. It is also curious why event management decided to cancel last-hope race ( re-passage). Sunday's KF3 final and the first round of World Karting Series have been won by perfectly driving Max Verstappen and CRG company team.

Igor's comment after first round of WSK:

(…) It was a very bad-luck weekend at LaConca for me and I just hope that in future I'm going to take a lot higher places adequate to my time results. Talking about my equipment, I'm very satisfied with my new Birel frame (…)

(…) KF3 class have been full of dangerous collisions, which was caused, in my opinion, by wrong gird set-up. About Igor's results during first WSK, he prove that he is one of the top WSK drivers. If we will compare times made by him in heats, he should make 4th, 10th, 2nd, and 7th position and took 6th place in pre-finals. I don't think that needs more comment (...)
